Halloween in the Citadel 2026 in Sighișoara: programme, free tours and tips

Sighișoara's inhabited medieval citadel changes its face again for Halloween. From 30 October to 1 November 2026 the second edition of the Halloween in the Citadel festival (Halloween în Cetate) takes place: three days of projections, fantastical characters and music on the cobbled streets of Sighișoara. Entry is free.

At a glance

• When: Friday 30 October – Sunday 1 November 2026, from 12:00.
• Where: Sighișoara Citadel, with the meeting point in the Citadel Square (Piața Cetății).
• Price: entry is free and the guided tours are free.
• Organiser: the "Drag de Sighișoara" association, in partnership with Visit Mureș.

What you will see

• 3D video projections (video mapping) on the walls, towers and facades of the historic buildings.
• The Parade of Shadows: vampires, witches and other fantastical characters mingling with the crowd in the citadel streets.
• Fire shows, performances and music from local DJs and guest artists.
• A Street Food & Special Drinks area with hot food and seasonal drinks.
• The organisers encourage visitors to come in costume.

For children

Family Kids Land has play areas, games, inflatables, pumpkin-carving workshops and face painting, so the festival also works for families with young children.

Free guided tours

On Friday 30 October and Saturday 31 October there are free guided tours starting from the Citadel Square at 13:00, 16:00 and 19:00. Each tour lasts about an hour and stops at the Clock Tower, the Vlad Dracul House and the Covered Staircase.

Tips to enjoy the festival

• The projections look best after dark. At the end of October it gets dark early, soon after 17:00.
• The citadel streets are cobbled and steep: comfortable shoes matter more than your costume.
• Autumn evenings in Transylvania are chilly, so bring something warm.
• The hour-by-hour programme for each day is announced by the organisers. Check the "Halloween în Cetate" Facebook page before you go.
